Date: 26th April 2025

Guest Speaker: Ms. Neetu Kumari, TGT – Social Studies Teacher, CS Bairamganj, Block Tappal, District Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh

Moderated by: Ms. Anuradha Gupta, Founder, Prithvi Innovations

We had the privilege of featuring Ms. Neetu Kumari, an outstanding Green Teacher, whose grassroots actions and student-led initiatives are transforming not just classrooms, but entire communities in rural Uttar Pradesh.

Key Discussion Points:

1. Giving Back to Mother Earth Ms. Neetu began with a powerful reflection: “We humans keep taking from nature, but it’s time we think of giving back — especially as educators.” She emphasized how teachers must inspire this gratitude and responsibility in children early on.

2. Sowing Seeds of Hope – Literally! She spoke about engaging students in seed sowing and plant nurturing activities. More than just an activity, she turned it into a science-based lesson - educating them about soil type, water needs, sunlight, and plant biology in a simple, relatable manner.

3. Tackling Local Environmental Issues Neetu Ma’am openly discussed the real challenges her students face daily - waste mismanagement, irregular water supply, and lack of sanitation. With hands-on efforts like water conservation tips and basic home-level composting, she and her students are creating sustainable solutions.

4. Brick Kilns (Bricks Battha) – The Hidden Villain A heartfelt concern was raised about how fertile farmlands, once green and lush, have been turned into brick kilns for economic reasons. These are now sources of air pollution, health hazards, and migration pressures on families. Children are the worst sufferers, facing breathing issues and losing green spaces to play and learn.

5. Dialogues with Middle School Students Ms. Neetu emphasized the importance of open conversations with middle schoolers. From menstrual hygiene to waste issues to career dreams, she creates a safe space in the classroom, showing that teachers can be guides both academically and emotionally.

6. Life Beyond the Classroom Beyond her school duties, she passionately runs an educational YouTube channel to support rural learners, while also upgrading her own digital knowledge. A true lifelong learner and changemaker!

7. Meeting with Hon’ble CM Yogi Adityanath She shared her humbling experience of being recognized for her dedication, and how such appreciation from top leadership further strengthens her resolve to serve with honesty and heart.

8. The Power of Women in Nation Building

Neetu Ma’am is not just a teacher - she’s a voice for women empowerment in rural education. She encouraged young girls and women teachers to believe in their potential, reminding us that “An educated woman shapes not just a child but the future of the nation.”
