Why Celebrate National Honey Bee Day?
National Honey Bee Day is a special occasion observed every year on 16th August to raise awareness about the crucial role of honey bees in our ecosystems, agriculture, and food security. These tiny yet mighty insects are pollinators of nearly 80% of flowering plants and over 90 major food crops, including apples, almonds, berries, and cucumbers.
Without bees, our plates would look a lot emptier.
This day is also an opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of beekeepers and the urgent need to address threats like climate change, pesticide use, and habitat destruction that endanger bee populations.
Fascinating Facts About Bees
A single honey bee visits 50 to 100 flowers during one trip.
Honey bees communicate using the “waggle dance.”
One hive can contain up to 60,000 bees.
Bees help pollinate 1 in every 3 bites of food we consume.
Bees are directly linked to biodiversity, healthy ecosystems, and global nutrition.
Prithvi Innovations: Buzzing for a Cause!
At Prithvi Innovations, we believe in creating ripple effects of environmental awareness through creative and engaging campaigns. On World Bee Day (20th May 2025), celebrated globally under the theme: “Bee Inspired by Nature to Nourish Us All”,
We organized a Video/Reel Making Contest inviting participants from across India to showcase the beautiful bond between bees and the environment.
Participants creatively captured how bees contribute to food security, biodiversity, and ecological balance — through reels, animations, storytelling, and visual messages. The response was overwhelming and reaffirmed the power of youth and community in spreading eco-consciousness.

Our contest will remain open till next World Bee Day, i.e. 2026 . And we invite all Bee lovers to email us your photo or video (40 sec.)entries capturing Bees in action, about their life cycle, their magical world, about their importance, or just about your world with the Bees.

One can also submit stories or field experiences through your article of maximum 500-700 words.

By celebrating National Honey Bee Day and World Bee Day, we aim to:
Educate the public about the importance of bees
Encourage plantation of native flowering species
Promote sustainable farming and reduction in pesticide use
Support beekeepers and local honey producers
