Earth Day celebrations by Prithvi Innovations begins at Sri Ram Swaroop Memorial School amidst lots of eco-activities

Under Prithvi Utsav, as part of its “Gomti Gaatha” program, Prithvi Innovations started its annual Earth Day Celebrations from 16th Apr. by conducting WoW (Waste to Wealth) Green Miracles workshop at Sri Ram Swaroop Memorial Public school Gomtinagar, for more than 200 students and teachers.

“The idea is to educate, engage and enable everyone to care and respect for their strong connection with Mother Earth and shift to Responsible Consumption and production and contribute to SDGs no 2,3,12, by their green actions,” informed Anuradha.

In continuation with our Earth Day celebrations, under “Gomti Gaatha”, Gomti River Clean up and green up Drive was organized by Prithvi Innovations, in collaboration with Lucknow Nagar Nigam and Forest Department and Seth A R Jaipuria, SHRI Ram Swaroop Memorial Public school, CMS Gomtinagar at Jhulelal ground, Gomti river bank on 21st & 22nd Apr.

Nagar Ayukt ji and Chief Environment Officer were expected to participate. Forest Department officials like City Range Officer Mr.Rahman ji, Parshad Shri Ranjit Singh ji along with school teachers and students and few members from Lucknow Farmers Market enthusiastically participated in the program.

As shared by Mrs.Anuradha Gupta, Founder Prithvi Innovations, So as to gradually bring behavioural change in the people and help them be a part of the solution rather than being a part of the problem, we have especially invited Nagar Ayukt ji to inaugurate on a pilot basis, few innovative green ideas of better waste management, which we had shared with him in Dec.2018, to make the river bank clean and green, like installing Daan Patras for separate collection of mundan hairs, pooja samgri, pooja vastr and dustbins for polythenes etc.

Mrs.Anuradha along Dr.Rashmi Chaturvedi ji, highlighted how by motivating and empowering the local people, like boatman and other religious people round the river, all people can be sensitized to keep the river clean. It’s really sad to see the river bank devoid of any green cover, hence with the support of Forest Department, to mark the day, 22 saplings of Neem, Paakar, Guler, Jamun, Bambol, Mango, Shareefa etc..were planted by Prithvi Innovations, in the name of Green Awardees, like Rishi, Rhythm, Shreelata, Bhaskar ji, Bharat Singh, Himani Singh, Alpana ji, Pratibha ji, etc..who had been recognized by Prithvi Innovations, at various forums like Lucknow Farmers Market.

Special Green Heroes awards were also being initiated by Prithvi Innovations, as part of these Celebrations, to recognize any outstanding green actions on ground by any student, teacher, parent or any Citizen in Lucknow. Special blue jackets were given to boatman to empower them as Nadi Rakshak.

Mrs.Anuradha Gupta also informed that in collaboration with Lucknow Nagar Nigam, special efforts will be made in the coming weeks, to sensitize as many families as possible to adopt composting through Prithvi’s WoW (waste to waste) – Green Miracles program.

More than 200 Students from Seth A R Jaipuria Gomtinagar, CMS Gomti Nagar, SHRI Ram Swaroop Memorial Public school along with their teachers joined “Gomti Gaath’s” karmshaala (Shramdaan) and (abhivyaktishaala) wall art and Calligraphy and contributed their bit in cleaning, greening and beautifying the ghat under the guidance of Prithvi’s team and with the kind help of the local boatmen community, including Amaranth ji, Awasti ji, Chamanlal ji, Rajkumar ji, Mukesh and Bansi ji. Special blue colour jackets were given to empower them as Nadi Rakshak by Prithvi Innovations. Beautiful, handcrafted natural paperweight was given as a little gift.

This is just a little green beginning. We have lot of action-packed fun and learn green Celebrations lined up with various school Partners like Pioneer Montessori, CMS, Sur Memorial and Kunskapsskolan and RWAs in the coming week.

Through various Eco workshops at schools, colleges and, clean up and green up Drives we wish to bring all stakeholders together to care for the depleting resources, like water, greenery, biodiversity and commit for little green actions, like managing our own green garbage by composting, reducing the use of polythenes, conserving water and trees, making Bird houses and Bird feeders and much more.
